Dear Editor,
I thought you might like this letter that my Dad wrote. You may publish this if you wish all or part of it. Thanks, Connie Fields (daughter of Hollis Wayne Fincher)
“Dear Linda,
“I love you very much. Thank you for putting up with me for so long. I am sorry that this Militia venture has caused you so much grief but I had to do what I have done concerning my serving in the Militia [of Washington] County Arkansas. I believe in living my life in honor and support of higher things than a mere existence. I love my God, my family and my fellow countrymen. I am not ashamed before God for my service in the Militia to that end. I don't hate the B.A.T.F. or the ones that betrayed the Militia. I feel sorry for them in that they have neglected to uphold the Constitution for these free American States and have joined in the levy of war against the American people with those who seek to destroy this Nation under God.
“I have heard no news about anything. In here there are no newspapers and the T.V. has no local news. I have been unable to call because our home number won't take collect calls and I can't remember Connie's or others. I sent word with a young man in here with me to call you or Paul Davis and let you know everything is alright. I am o.k. PLEASE, don't worry about me!!!! Just take care of yourself and Molly, give her a bone for me. Tell Gary, Steve, Chris and Keith that I am alright and will be back in the court battle soon.
“Did Chris and Keith get a deer? Did Steve get one? The very best you can do for me is to take care of yourself.
“I love you always.
“Wayne
“Bye for now. You can show this or copy it and send it to anyone you chose. I received a letter from Wanda and it really helped. Keep writing everyone.”
This letter was the first one that my Dad wrote. He called today and he sounds fine. He's losing weight and feeling a lot better. Please tell everyone to keep writing. He also said in another letter that he doesn't like it in there but he's doing o.k. I thought you might like to read this. Don Bright read this on the radio station one day last week.
